Sales and Digital Marketing Officer
About Kanazawa Tours
Kanazawa Tours is a premier tour operator specializing in luxury travel experiences, art-focused tours, and cultural immersions in Kanazawa, Takayama, and beyond. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated Marketing Assistant to join our team and support our digital marketing efforts.
About the Role
We are looking for a Sales and Digital Marketing Officer to help grow Kanazawa Tours by developing new business opportunities and strengthening how we reach international travellers and travel partners. This role gives equal importance to sales and digital marketing, combining relationship building with creative content and practical campaign delivery.
Working closely with senior management and our Operations and Quality teams, you will turn our tours and experiences into clear, compelling proposals and promotional content. You will develop overseas partner relationships, follow up on enquiries and support opportunities from initial contact through to confirmed bookings.
Alongside your sales work, you will create content for social media, email campaigns and promotional materials, assess results and recommend improvements, including suggestions for website content. Success means generating qualified enquiries, converting opportunities into bookings and building lasting business relationships.
This position suits someone who can contribute ideas, organise their own work and take responsibility for delivering results.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop relationships with overseas travel agents, tour operators and other potential partners.
- Follow up on sales enquiries, prepare proposals and convert opportunities into bookings.
- Create engaging content for social media, email campaigns and promotional materials.
- Plan and deliver digital marketing activities to generate enquiries and bookings.
- Review website content and recommend improvements to support sales and the guest experience.
- Coordinate with Operations and Quality to keep proposals and promotional information accurate and aligned with our services.
- Track sales activity and marketing performance, report results and recommend practical improvements.
Essential Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant professional experience in sales, digital marketing or a role combining both.
- Evidence of practical ability in both sales and digital marketing.
- Native-level English writing and reading comprehension for business correspondence and marketing, plus strong spoken English.
- Conversational Japanese sufficient for communication with local suppliers.
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to work independently and follow through on commitments.
Desirable: Experience in tourism, hospitality or international business.

1. Qualifications and experience
What bachelor’s degree do you hold, and how many years of relevant professional experience do you have? Briefly identify your relevant roles and responsibilities.
2. Sales and marketing results
Describe one sales opportunity you helped turn into business and one digital marketing activity you personally delivered. Explain your contribution and the results. Include figures where available.
3. Japanese communication
Can you independently make a restaurant reservation by telephone in Japanese and discuss dates, guest numbers, dietary requirements and changes? Briefly describe your experience using Japanese in similar situations.
4. English writing sample
Write a short introductory email, no more than 150 words, to an overseas travel agent introducing Kanazawa Tours and proposing a conversation about working together. Please write independently without AI or translation tools.
5. Work authorisation in Japan
Please confirm your current eligibility to work in Japan. If you are a Japanese national, please state this. Otherwise, please provide your current visa/status of residence, its expiry date and any work restrictions.

Job Description
We are looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals to join our team as Tour Guides and Driver-Guides. As a Tour Guide, you will be responsible for guiding sightseeing tours of Kanazawa and the surrounding area to guests coming from overseas. As a Driver-Guide, you will additionally be responsible for driving guests to various tour locations while providing insightful commentary. This job is ideal for people who are deeply interested in working with English and different cultures. Training will be provided, so people with little or no experience are welcome.
Requirements:
- Passion for history, culture, and storytelling.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- Friendly, outgoing, and approachable personality.
- Ability to handle groups of various sizes and manage time effectively.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
- Previous experience in guiding or customer service is preferred, but not required.
