Kanazawa - Yamanaka - Inami - Gokayama and Takayama
Day 1 – Kanazawa Geisha and Samurai Culture
Explore this UNESCO city of Arts and Culture with our private guide. This custom tour will be tailored to your interests and may include visits to Geisha and Samurai districts, Kanazawa castle or the Omicho fish market. Along the way you will be stopping at one of Kanazawa’s oldest tea houses where you will participate in a traditional Tea Ceremony.
Day 2 – Kanazawa Artisans
On the second day with our private guide you visit the famous Kenroku-en garden. Afterwards you will experience exclusive access to world-renowned Japanese Artists on our Artisan Tours. Get a private insight into the most impressive artists in Kanazawa during a private one-to-one meeting with the masters of ceramics, Kimono dyeing and more.
Day 3 – Yamanaka Onsen
Our expert Driver guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby and drive you to the hidden away hot spring resort of Yamanaka Onsen. Explore the small mountain town, which is said to have inspired Japanese poet Matsuo Basho to write the poem, “Here / the joy of a good/outdoor walk”. Stay overnight at a traditional Ryokan and enjoy a bath in your private Onsen.
Day 4 – Transfer to Takayama via Inami, Evening meal and tour in Takayama
Our English-speaking driver guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby and first brings you to Inami. Inami is a charming village renowned for its centuries-old carpentry traditions. From there, the driver drops you off in Takayama, where you will spend the next 2 nights. After a rest in the afternoon, our professional guide will take you on a short Edo Era tour in the evening, including a visit to a vibrant local restaurant with full-course traditional meal and drinks.
Day 5 – Takayama and Shirakawago
Your private guide will collect you from your hotel in the morning and take you on an interactive half-day tour of Takayama’s most unique sites. In the afternoon, a private driver brings you to Shirakawago. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of the beautiful Alpine village with its characteristic Gasho zukuri style(Hands in prayer) thatched roofs. In the evening you will return to Takayama by car
