Artisans Description:

The shape is carved out of the clay block, and the inside is hollowed out to shape it to an appropriate thickness.

Coating the surface with a unique metal glaze containing iron and manganese gives this piece an outstanding presence.

Imanishi’s unique ‘Cell Crest’ is handpainted onto the surface using the local technique of Kutani ware painting.
